Solid Waste Management Contract Preparation and Negotiation by PLDW Attorneys Results in Long-Term Benefit for Residents in Rockland County, New York

Residents of the Villages of Spring Valley and Sloatsburg, New York are recent beneficiaries of the strong negotiation skills and years of experience in evaluating and executing contracts of PLDW Municipal Infrastructure attorneys. Their work has resulted in a cost-effective, five-year agreement between the Rockland County Solid Waste Management Authority (RCSWMA) and Miele Sanitation Company (Miele).

On January 1, 2012, RCSWMA entered into two new agreements with Miele for the collection of residential solid waste within the two villages. The new agreements are in effect for five years with an option to extend for an additional five years. The contracts, entered into through a competitive evaluation process, ensure that RCSWMA obtained the best value for the requested services on behalf of the residents of the villages.

Municipal Infrastructure Team attorneys, who routinely assist clients in contract preparation and negotiations, provided multiple services to Rockland County officials, helping them prepare solicitation documents and subsequently working side-by-side with them in the negotiation process that finalized cost-effective and improved agreements between RCSWMA and Miele.
